Equal Access For All

HARTplus is transportation for people with disabilities. Persons are eligible for this service if they have physical, cognitive, emotional, visual or other disabilities that prevent them from using HART fixed route bus system, either permanently or under certain conditions. The service consists of van transportation, which is based on the individual’s needs and either:

1. Picks people up and drops them off at their destination
2. Takes them to an accessible bus stop

The HART bus system is fully accessible to people who use wheelchairs or motorized scooters, and should be used whenever feasible. All buses have PA systems to announce stops and lighted stop-requested signs. HARTplus services, available only where HART bus routes operate, are based solely on the applicant’s functional ability to use HART buses, not disability alone.

How Do I Apply?

A two-step process determines eligibility for HARTplus services:

1. Completion of an application that is sent in advance
2. An in-person interview and functional evaluation, if necessary, to determine individual circumstances. (Transportation assistance is provided to the interview if necessary.)

Information provided by a social service agency or other professional regarding the applicant’s ability to use the bus may also be considered.

Times and Fares

HARTplus services are available on the same days and at the same times as HART local fixed-route bus service. The HARTplus fare structure is:

HARTplus One-Way Cash Fare	$4
HARTplus 10-Ride Coupon Book	$40	Purchase
All HARTplus services require reservations the day before service is desired. Please call 813-254-HART (the HARTinfo Line) or 813-626-9158 (TDD for the hearing impaired) during regular customer service hours to make a reservation.

Holiday Subscription Trips

HARTPlus service is available on certain holidays but subscription trips no longer operate during certain holidays. Click here for a list of the holidays.

Temporary Eligibility Status

Individuals with disabilities visiting the Tampa area and interested in using paratransit service should contact HARTPlus Administration at (813) 384-6305 at least three weeks in advance of traveling to Tampa or Hillsborough County. Cash fare is $4.
